The Story

The GTR XU-1 Torana proved that lightweight agility could beat raw V8 horsepower. Designed as a homologation special, the XU-1 took the humble six-cylinder Torana and added high-performance heads, triple carburettors, and race-ready internals.

It famously secured Peter Brock's first Bathurst victory in 1972, defeating the heavy Falcon GTHO Phase III in wet conditions.

Production Volume

Approx 1,633 LC XU-1s and 3,300 LJ XU-1s produced.
